In the heart of Western Wisconsin’s Driftless region, the city of Viroqua is preparing to say goodbye to their beloved Eckhart Park Playground. While long a source of community pride (especially because it was the product of a community-wide building effort) it’s past time for a more modern playground. Once again, though, Viroquans are teaming up to do it themselves, and you’re welcome to join them on the final day of their building blitz.
Planning is underway to construct a new playground at Eckhart Park.  There will be two six-hour shifts per day for six consecutive days.  Shift one is from 7:30am-12:30pm.  Shift two is from 12:30pm-6:00pm.  At least 40 people per shift are needed.  Volunteers 14 and up with all skill levels are encouraged to help.  Anyone who signs up will be provided with meals and the tools for construction.  Volunteer signups are being managed by the Viroqua Lions Club and are done electronically at the following link https://volunteersignup.org/PHYMH

Connect2Culture's goal is to educate and engage the community through unique experiences of different countries. We are collaborating with Interdependence Relay & For The Love in a social experiment during that group’s Neighbor Night community meal to talk about America's 250th anniversary, share a box that has collected gifts/artifacts from other states, and unite everyone from all walks of life. Come on down to downtown Bentonville and you’ll see us at the Connect 2 Culture booth!

Join us for a community screening of The Truth About Reading, a powerful documentary that examines the impact of illiteracy in America and highlights solutions emerging from classrooms, policy, and communities across the country. Following the 80-minute screening, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion and community conversation exploring what the film's themes mean for our local community and how we can work together to ensure every child has the opportunity to become a strong reader. The Kansas HIVE is a cohort of community organizers in small towns across the entire state of Kansas. On September 14th, Hive will gather in Inman, Kansas, to celebrate the Interdependence Relay by exploring how stronger communities are built through connection, collaboration, and shared purpose. Through meaningful conversation, storytelling, and a symbolic contribution to the traveling relay box, participants will reflect on the ways we depend on one another and the unique role each person plays in helping communities thrive. Together, we'll celebrate the idea that no one carries the journey alone.

POWER (Powerful, Outstanding Women Engaged in Resilience) is a vibrant network of women, femme trans, non-binary Tucsconians, active in Southern Arizona since 2013 (and in Washington D.C. before that). While they connect and support each other in a number of ways, their core ritual is a monthly dinner, which in July will also double as Arizona’s Relay Event. Trans movie night is a regular gathering of trans friends in the Salt Lake area who come together to watch and discuss movies! Come to the community room at Sahara West Library for an honest community discussion about what the 250th anniversary of the country means to you if you have complicated feelings about U.S. history/current governmental policy. It’ll be hosted by Las Vegas Summerlin Bonfire, a new women’s political action group, and are excited to join the relay as they build and grow a supportive activist community in the Las Vegas Valley.
